Despite all the rumors about Elijah bringing back his brother, it seems very likely that this is the last we will see of Klaus on this earth. There are several hints pointing to the show possibly killing off Klaus for good in season three. Even before the big reveal of Elijah bringing back his brother, it’s hinted that the vampire returns from the dead are starting to change. Not only are they more powerful, but they are also getting smarter and more cunning with each passing season.

The Vampire Original was quite the death scene! After Klaus (Joseph Morgan) was bitten by his sire, the Original Connor (Matt Davis), Klaus was left weakened and vulnerable to the sun. Despite being able to walk around in the sunlight, Klaus’s vulnerability to it leads to his death at the hands of his own family. When Elijah (Daniel Gillies) was unable to bring back his brother using the sun, he returned to the full moon in hopes of bringing back the weakened vampire.

It was revealed in season 3 that Klaus was actually the Original vampire and that he was the one responsible for creating the vampires. He also created Elijah and Rebekah. In the season 3 finale, he was left vulnerable as the sun rises. He had to drink Elijah's blood to try and protect himself from the sun, but it didn’t work. As he tries to drink Elijah's blood, he fell from a cliff. He ended up being swallowed by the earth.
