While you can find some single courses, it’s usually best to find a program to learn about all aspects of the language at once.

This simple phrase is one of the easiest ways for people to start a conversation Whether you’re new to signing or just learning the basics, this phrase is great for getting your conversation started. If you want to add a little more detail, you can also add “in person” or “online” to your greeting.

Other common questions include: How are you doing? Do you have any questions? Are you busy? Are you tired? Are you hungry? Are you thirsty?

So, I know that a lot of people have been away from their friends and family for a while now, so it’s not surprising that you’re feeling a little homesick. I’ve been feeling pretty isolated too, and it’s not easy to feel alone in this time. I know that you miss your friends and family, and that you miss video chat, but please know that I’m here for you.

I’m doing great! This is my first year in school, so I don’t have a lot of conversations in person yet. But the deaf community here is so friendly and helpful, and I really feel like I’m a part of something bigger than myself. I love being able to connect with my peers through ASL, and I’m looking forward to continuing to learn more about the language.
