Growing up in the Midwest, I used to spend a lot of time exploring the woods. While I’m not much of an outdoorsy person, I definitely had a special connection with trees and the forest. I love the calm and quiet of the forest. I could spend hours just sitting and watching the trees sway, listening to the birds sing, and observing the animals that call the forest home.

In the northern hemisphere, the home of the draug is the taiga forest, a region where the tree line is a constant. The taiga is the northernmost forest biome, found on both sides of the northern hemisphere, between latitudes 35° and 65° north. It’s the most challenging forest on the planet to grow, as the difficult growing conditions – lots of snow and long, dark winters – make it hard for trees to grow.

Draw is an earthworm and can be found in the lower end of the soil. The species of earthworms are different based on their location. It is not possible for humans to simply walk into a forest and collect earthworms. The earthworms are located in the lower end of the soil because it is here that they can feel and contact the roots of trees. This allows them to get nutrients from the trees. As a result, trees can easily feed on the nutrients gathered by the earthworms.

Trees can be found in almost any biome. Individual species can be found in specific biomes, too. For example, you’re more likely to find oak trees in a forest biome than in a desert. Growing conditions and preferences impact tree species as well. For example, a maple tree in the north of a continent may grow differently from a maple in the south.
